EDF Renewable Energy has secured a 96 percent stake in the 175-MW Pilot Hill Wind Project from Orion Energy Group LLC and Vision Energy LLC . The project includes a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Microsoft Corp.
Pilot Hill Wind Project, located near Chicago, will consist of wind turbines supplied by General Electric (NYSE: GE) and Vestas. Construction is expected to begin soon and is scheduled to reach commercial operation during the first quarter of 2015.
“EDF Renewable Energy is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Microsoft on the Pilot Hill Wind Project, as well as to have closed our first transaction with Orion Energy Group and Vision Energy,” said Ryan Pfaff, executive vice president for EDF Renewable Energy.
