Finland-based Fennovoima and Germany-based Siemens (NYSE: SI) signed a contract for the electrification of a nuclear power plant site in Hanhikivi headland, the first signed contract dealing with construction works at the site.
The construction of a land cable connection was started earlier this month, and Siemens will continue the work by building a substation to provide 20kV and 400kV power distribution to the construction site. The site electrification will be built for Fennovoima’s own requirements, but when construction of the power plant begins, Rusatom Overseas will build its own site electrification.
Planning will begin in August and construction will begin at the end of 2014. The site electrification will be completed in April 2015.
