Turkey’s planned Akkuyu nuclear power plant is expected to be operational by 2023.
According to ansamed.info, investment in the plant will amount to $20 billion. Power generated by the plant is expected to contribute to 17 percent of the country’s electricity demand.
Rosatom signed an agreement in 2011 to build and operate a four-reactor, 4.8-GW nuclear plant along the Mediterranean coast. The Russian utility said it would invest $2.5 billion in the country’s nuclear sector, and has already sent $1.39 billion toward construction of the plant.
