Siemens H-Class technology featured at Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center

Siemens (NYSE: SI) supplied three of its SGT6-8000H-gas turbines to the Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center, each delivering an electrical generating capacity of 274-MW.

Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center in Florida entered commercial operation on April 1.

“The Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center is yet another demonstration of our commitment to dramatically reducing our dependence on foreign oil, while at the same time, delivering clean, reliable and affordable electricity for all of our customers,” said Eric Silagy, president of FPL.

In May 2011, Siemens’ SGT5-8000H gas turbine achieved efficiency of 60.75 percent in combined-cycle operation at Irsching Power Station in Germany. To date, Siemens has sold 28 H-Class gas turbines worldwide.

The Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center is owned and operated by Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc.
