The Agua Caliente project will sell its output to Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (NYSE:PCG) under a 25-year power purchase agreement. It uses First Solar thin-film solar panels, and First Solar will maintain the facility. It was financed with support from a loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office.
It is one of ten utility-scale solar PV facilities in three states in which NRG has ownership interest, including the 392-MW Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Station, the 250-MW California Valley Solar Ranch and the 66-MW Alpine solar projects, all located in California.
