Renewable energy contributed the bulk of new power generation that came online in the U.S. in February, with all but one of 13 units completed that month being powered by renewables, according to a report from SNL Financial.
Of the 143 MW that came online in February, 98 MW was supplied by renewable power. Solar led in new power generation with 70.2 MW, according to SNL. Natural gas provided the second-most new capacity in the month with 45 MW coming online.
Eight new projects with a total capacity of 665 MW were announced in February. The natural gas-fired, five-unit Ocotillo Gas Project accounted for 510 MW of that total, according to SNL.
