South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G) is testing its emergency siren system at its V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County.
The tests are done each quarter at the facility, according to the Associated Press.
SCE&G says it will test 106 sirens within a 10-mile radius.
Testing is necessary, SCE&G said. In a real emergency sirens would go off alerting residents in the area to tune into to radio or television stations for more information and instructions.
