Small hydro plant receives equipment contract from California utility

The Lincoln Metering and Hydroelectric Station will be receiving a 320-kW water-to-wire equipment package from ORENCO Hydropower.

The $745,000 contract includes two vertical Francis turbines, induction generators, valves, switchgear and control systems, provided by ORENCO.

The micro hydropower plant, being developed by the Placer County Water Agency, will be installed at an existing metering station near Lincoln.

Energy generated by the Lincoln plant will be purchased by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG).

The plant is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
