Iowa wind farm substation burglarized

In the past two weeks a wind farm substation in Iowa has been burglarized twice.

RPM Access, a wind farm development company that has worked on four wind farms in Iowa, said they had equipment stolen and damaged at the site near Beattie.

Marshall County Attorney Laura Johnson-McNish told county commissioners on Tuesday that the wind farm electrical substation was burglarized again over the weekend, according to the Marysville Advocate.

The substation’s site manager, Tony Nikabadze, estimates that the incidents cost RPM Access, more than $20,000.

The company says they are looking at installing security cameras and hiring security guards.
