Test results from water samples analyzed by Duke Energy and the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DENR) shows that water quality continues to improve downstream at the Dan River Steam Station.
On Sunday, a break in a storm water pipe beneath the ash basin caused a release of ash basin water and ash into the river.
Duke Energy, the state of North Carolina, the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are working together to test the quality of the water. Drinking water has not been affected.
Crews are working on sealing the storm water pipe.
