Canadian Solar sells solar power plant to BlackRock

Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) announced that its subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., will sell a 10 MW solar power plant in Ontario to a fund managed by BlackRock.

The Oro plant is the fourth solar power plant that BlackRock has purchased from Canadian Solar. The plant is scheduled to begin construction in the third quarter of 2014. Canadian Solar is providing turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the project and will provide operations and maintenance services after completion.

The Oro power plant has a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority. The plant will use 38,763 Canadian Solar CS6X modules and is expected to create more than 150 new jobs.
