Alstom has secured a contract with Dubai Aluminum (DUBAL) to upgrade two GT13E2 gas turbines at a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in the United Arab Emirates. The turbines will be upgraded with Alstom’s MXL2 upgrade package, and the work comes in conjuction wth an extension to Alstom’s long-term service agreement with DUBAL.
The MXL2 retrofit product allows DUBAL to achieve a 1 percent increase in combined cycle mode efficiency and produce an additional 12 MW of gross output power. The upgrade will also reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reduce service intervals by one-third.
The upgrade implementation is expected to be completed in early 2015.
