EDF Renewable Energy acquired the 200 MW Hereford 1 Wind Project in Texas and began construction on the project. EDF purchased the project from Lincoln Renewable Energy.
The project will use transmission lines in the Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) that connects wind energy produced in the Texas panhandle and supplies it to high-demand areas in the state. The 300 MW second phase of the project broke ground on Nov. 26.
EDF Renewable Energy currently has 561 MW of wind capacity in Texas.
