StatWeather Founder and President Ria Persad was announced as the first recipient of Renewable Energy World and Power Engineering’s first POWER-GEN Woman of the Year award Monday. Statweather provides probabilistic weather prediction tools for weather risk management for the power industry. Persad founded the company in 2009 to provide weather risk analysis using a method of looking at data more similar to how computer scientists and mathematicians look at data.
She also founded the Freedom Scholars of America Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to students who may not be eligible for financial aid because their parents are undocumented immigrants or because they are mothers returning to school on a part-time basis.
Persad will give a keynote speech during the Women in Power Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Orange County Convention Center.
