AREVA used its SUSI robot to perform inspections for the lifetime extension of a reactor’s primary system in the U.S.
The small, remote-controlled submarine navigates the primary system of a nuclear power plant and uses technology to inspect components through ultrasonic and visual testing. The robot helps to evaluate the status of the reactor internals.
SUSI technology, pioneered by AREVA Germany and extensively used in Europe, was adapted to meet the requirements of U.S. nuclear power plants.
