AREVA produces MOX nuclear fuel for power plant in the Netherlands

AREVA began production of MOX fuel for the 500 MWe Borssele power plant in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is now the seventh country to use MOX fuel in its reactors, along with Germany, Switzerland, France, Japan and others.

In 2008, EPZ, a Dutch utility, decided to diversify its nuclear fuel supply and chose AREVA to fabricate its MOX fuel. EPZ received a government license this year to load eight MOX assemblies in 2014 and 12 assemblies each year thereafter.
