Unit 3 at Exelon’s Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania returned to service Oct. 27 after a planned fall refueling outage.
During the outage, which started on Sept. 9, workers replaced nearly one-third of the reactor’s fuel and performed maintenance. Workers also executed planned upgrades that will allow the station to generate additional power, pending approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Other projects included upgrades to safety and electricity generation equipment.
Unit 2 continued to operate during Unit 3’s outage.
