First turbines begin operation at Michigan wind power project

Geronimo Energy acquires Green River Wind Farm Mainstream Renewable Power Illinois

The first 13 turbines have been commissioned at DTE Energy’s Echo Wind Park in Huron County, Mich., the company announced Wednesday. The entire facility is set to begin commercial operation by the end of November.

The project has a total of 70 turbines and a capacity of 112 MW. It is the third wind power project to be owned and operated by DTE Energy, which also has an ownership stake in the Gratiot County Wind Park and will purchase energy from Big Turtle Wind Farm.

DTE stated in a release it expects to add more than 900 MW of renewable energy by 2015.
