CPV, ArcLight, Toyota Tsusho break ground on NJ natural gas-fired power plant

Competitive Power Ventures, ArcLight Capital Partners and Toyota Tsusho Corp. held a ground breaking ceremony Wednesday for the new 700-MW natural gas-fired Woodbridge Energy Center in Woodbridge, N.J. CPV, ArcLight and Toyota Tsusho are co-owners of the project.

The $845 million project, hosted at the site of a former chemical plant, is expected to enter commercial operation in the first quarter of 2016 and will be operated by an affiliate of ArcLight. CPV is managing the construction process.

The facility will use GE Power & Water’s FlexEfficiency 60 combined-cycle package, which includes two 216 MW 7F 5-series gas turbine generators and one D-11A steam turbine generator in a 2×1 configuration and two duct-fired, triple pressure reheat heat recovery steam generators.
