Northwest hydropower drops in September in year-to-year comparison

Information from the Bonneville Power Administration shows that hydropower generation in the Pacific Northwest dropped 4 percent in September compared to September 2012, according to a report from Platts.

The Northwest output of hydropower was 4.1 million megawatt-hours last month, compared to 4.9 million MWh produced in September 2012, according to the report.

Generation from natural gas and other thermal sources made a year-to-year increase, however, increasing to 3 million MWh in September from 2.7 MWh the same month last year, Platts reported. Wind output also increased from 580,131 MWh in September 2012 to 939,236 MWh in September 2013.
