Kudankulam nuclear plant to deliver power to grid in August

The Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu, along the coast of southern India, will begin delivering power to the grid in mid-to-late August, according to a report from the UK’s Daily Mail.  The plant went critical at midnight on July 13.

The Kudankulam plant has been surrounded by controversy as a wave of protest moved to block the reactor from going online. In early May, the Indian Supreme Court issued a decision dismissing safety concerns and paving the way for the plant to go online.
