Kewaunee nuclear plant layoffs begin

As scheduled, Dominion Resources (NYSE: D) is beginning its first round of layoffs at the Kewaunee nuclear facility in Wisconsin on Friday, eliminating 202 of the 632 positions at the plant, The Green Bay Press Gazette reports.

Kewaunee stopped producing power on May 7 and all remaining fuel rods have been removed from the reactor. The remaining layoffs are scheduled as follows: 56 positions will be eliminated on or after June 30, 46 on July 31, and a trickle of layoffs extended until the final 293 positions are eliminated on Sept. 30, 2014.
