Mississippi Power elected G. Edison (Ed) Holland as president and CEO effective immediately after Ed Day announced his retirement.
Jeff Shepard, a spokesman with Mississippi Power, denied reports that cost overruns at the Kemper County integrated gasification combined-cycle plant led to Day’s resignation.
“Ed Day retired effective Monday, May 20,” Shepard said. “It was his decision.”
Holland previously was the company’s executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer with parent company Southern Co. (NYSE: SO). He was also the CEO of Savannah Electric and the vice president of power generation and transmission with Gulf Power.
