Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR) reached a settlement with Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds on all outstanding claims related to construction of the 500 MW Greater Gabbard offshore wind project off the coast of England.
Financial terms will not be disclosed and there is no material financial impact to Fluor. In October 2011, United Kingdom-based utility SSE claimed that the foundations supporting 52 turbines at the project were defective, according to Power Engineering International magazine. Fluor countered that it had already repaired the turbines. The project became operational in September 2012. SSE and RWE nPower both run the wind farm under the umbrella company, Greater Gabbard.
“Fluor designed and built a safe, fit-for-purpose facility, and we are please that the operating wind farm is meeting the owner’s operating expectations,” said David Seaton, Fluor’s chairman and CEO.
