NextEra picks GE wind turbines for Michigan wind farm

General Electric (NYSE: GE) will supply 59 of its new 1.7-100 wind turbines to a wind power project in the thumb region of Michigan planned by NextEra Energy Resources (NYSE: NEE).

This is GE’s first order for these new wind turbines, which have a hub height of 80 meters, according to the company. The turbines can analyze tens of thousands of data points every second, helping to manage wind’s variability and provide smooth, predictable power, according to GE.

The new 1.7-100 meter wind turbine advances its 1.6-100 wind turbine series by using electrical system upgrades to allow higher wind energy productions.

GE’s latest development in wind turbine technology increases the rating on the 1.6-100 from 1.6 MW to 1.7 MW, boosting the power by 6 percent.
