SolarCity and Forest City Military Communities broke ground on a 24 MW solar power project at Ohana Military Communities, which serves Navy Region Hawaii and Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
The companies finished installing the first 700 kW of capacity at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and will soon begin installations at Navy Region Hawaii. The project is part of SolarCity’s SolarStrong program, which aims to install solar projects at U.S. military bases. This project is being financed primarily by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Forest City is a developer and manager of distinctive and diversified real estate projects, with properties in 26 states and the District of Columbia. The company currently manages military family housing units in eight states for the Navy, Marine Corp and Air Force under the Armed Forces’ Public-Private Venture Privatized Family Housing Program.
