Kudankulam nuclear plant gets go-ahead in India

India Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant

The Indian Supreme Court gave the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant its seal of approval Monday, NDTV reports. The court reportedly found that the project was devised to power sustainable growth and provide for the public welfare in Tamil Nadu.

The two, 1,000 MW nuclear reactors planned for the facility have been met with substantial public resistance, though the state has remained committed to the project.
