The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works announced Thursday it will hold a meeting May 9 to vote on advancing Gina McCarthy’s nomination as administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
McCarthy, who is currently the assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, appeared before the committee for a nomination hearing on April 11. According to a statement from the committee, McCarthy has responded to all questions submitted by members of the committee, including more than 1,000 questions submitted by Republican senators on the committee.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Cali., expressed support for McCarthy in the statement, saying McCarthy is “a strong, bipartisan candidate and the right person for the job at this critical time.”
