FGE Power to build natural gas-fired generating station

FGE Texas LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of FGE Power LLC, has announced plans to build a 726 MW natural gas-fired generating station in Mitchell County, Texas.

The combined-cycle power plant will use Alstom Thermal Power’s KA-24 platform, which will be one of the most efficient among gas plants in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, according to a press release issued by the company. The project will also utilize a dispatch flexibility to respond to ERCOT’s large wind resource and peak load demands.

FGE Texas expects construction of the facility to begin in 2013 and for the power plant to begin commercial operation in 2016.
