GE (NYSE: GE) and Russia’s Sakhalin provincial government signed a memorandum of understanding to develop power generation projects for Sakhalin Island. The MOU covers a range of options, from aeroderivative gas turbines to gas engines, coal gasification and wind power.
GE and the government will work together to develop the 60 MW Nogliki natural gas-fired project on the island using two LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbines. GE has already supplied five LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbines for other projects.
