Bob Perciasepe has been named as the acting administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, according to an update made to the EPA’s website Feb. 15. Perciasepe will also continue to serve as the deputy administrator, the position President Barack Obama appointed him to in 2009.
Perciasepe had worked for the EPA during President Bill Clinton’s administration and held various key roles with the National Audubon Society, including chief operating officer, between 2004 and 2009.
Perciasepe also posted on social media website Twitter Friday discussing his appointment as interim director, saying he was honored to serve as acting administrator of the agency.
“I look forward to continuing our work protecting people’s health and the environment,” he stated on the site.
Lisa P. Jackson announced her resignation from her post as administrator in December.
