A Request For Proposals (RFP) was announced for renewable energy and energy services on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, the home of Sir Richard Branson.
The RFP was announced on behalf of Virgin Limited Edition, the Carbon War Room, Homer Energy and Reznick Think Energy LLC. The implementation of the renewable energy systems on the island will represent the centerpiece for Branson and Carbon War Room’s “10 Island Challenge” commitment, which seeks to assist 10 island nations in reducing their dependence on fossil fuels by 2020.
The RFP has two phases, including engineering and designs for a 750 kW solar photovoltaic system in an open field, 8 kW of PV on the Great House and Solar Carports. The second phase consists of bids sought for a wind turbine, significant load controls and batteries and an overall energy supply and management contract.
