NRG Energy to take over operations and maintenance of coal-fired power plant

NRG Energy Services has taken over all operating and maintenance responsibilities at the coal-fired Homer City Generation Station under a long-term operating agreement with the plant’s owner.

The Homer City Generating Station is a three-unit, 1,884 MW capacity power plant located in Pennsylvania. The previous operator was Midwest Generation, an affiliate of Edison Mission Energy.

NRG Energy Services took over operation of the station, which is owned by an affiliate of GE Energy Financial Services and a minority investor, from its previous operator.

NRG Energy Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc (NYSE: NRG).
