SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (NYSE: WFR), signed an agreement with Chilean mining and steel group CAP to build a 100 MW solar photovoltaic project in the Atacama Desert of Chile.
The plant is expected to use more than 300,000 Silvantis monocrystalline silicon modules along with solar trackers designed by SunEdison. SunEdison Renewable Operations Center will manage the project.
The first phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013.
