Alstom has signed a 10-year operations and maintenance contract with Eastern Power and Electric Co. Ltd. for the company’s gas-fired Bang Bo Power plant. Alstom will station permanent employees on site to operate the power plant and carry out all maintenance at the site.
The 350 MW combined cycle power plant is located at Khlong Daan, Bang Bo Samut Prakan Province in Thailand.
Alstom will also be upgrading the existing GT26 gas turbine at the plant with the MXL2 turbine blade and components in 2014 as part of the contract, making the power plant the first GT26 power plant in Thailand to receive the upgrade.
Thailand has seven commercially operational Alstom GT26 power plants, which is the most in East Asias. Alstom has been present in Thailand for over 40 years and has supplied over 7,000 MW power through its technology. Apart from Bang Bo, Alstom also constructed the 730 MW Bo Win and the 1600 MW Kaeng Khoi 2 gas-fired power plants in Thailand.
