New Projects, Reactors

Russia, China deal for two nuclear reactors could break ground soon

Concrete for the foundation of two new reactors at the Tianwan nuclear plant will be poured before the end of the year, said Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko in Energy Business Review.

The new reactors will be similar in design to the first two units, 1,060 MW VVER-1000 reactors, which went into operation in 2007. Kiriyenko said as many as eight reactors could be accommodated at the Tianwan facility.
