Britain’s electrical grid began receiving power from reactor 1 at the Hartlepool nuclear plant in northern England Wednesday.
The 620 MW reactor, operated by EDF Energy, had been offline for refueling since November 17. Demand for power in the Britain is expected to spike in coming days due to a forecast of colder weather. In January the number 2 reactor at the site will have a scheduled shutdown of its own.
