Quebec wind farm begins operating

Cartier Wind Energy has announced that operations have begun at its Gros-Morne Phase II wind project in the Gaspésie region of Québec, powered by 74 GE (NYSE: GE) 1.5-77 wind turbines. Gros-Morne I and II combined is one of the largest wind farms in Canada with a total output of 211.5 MW.

Hydro-Québec has purchased the energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Cartier Wind Energy is a joint venture between TransCanada and Innergex.

The Gros-Morne project includes a four-year GE operations and maintenance service contract with Cartier.
