Nuclear site cleanup contract extended three years

URS Corp. (NYSE: URS) announced that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) extended its contract with CH2M-WG Idaho for an additional three years to September 2015. CWI is a joint venture between CH2M-Hill and URS that directs the Idaho Cleanup Project at the DOE’s Idaho National Laboratory.

The cleanup project focuses on early risk reduction and protection of the Snake River Plain Aquifer. Under terms of the three-year, $730 million extension, CWI will treat and dispose of radioactive waste, retrieve and dispose of buried waste, manage spent nuclear fuel, dispose of nuclear materials, conduct environmental remediation activities and treat and process sodium-bearing waste. The original contract was signed in March 2005.
