Pierre-Franck Chevet was named president of French nuclear regulator Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire (ASN) on Nov. 9. He succeeds Andre-Claude Lacoste, who completed his six-year term on Nov. 12.
Margot Timarche was named a member of the ASN for a six-year term. She repaces Marie-Pierre Comets, whose term ended Nov. 12.
Chevet began his career at ASN in September 1986 where he held several positions, including Deputy Bureau Chief Controlling Nuclear Construction, Deputy Director in charge of power reactors and, recently, as Director General of the Directorate-General for Energy and climate.
Timarche is an epidemiologist who has been studying cancer risks associated with exposure to ionizing radiation since 1976. Since 2009, she has been working with the Science Directorate and the Directorate of strategy, development and partnership of the IRSN, scientific leadership and coordinated several scientific and technical research programs in epidemiology.
