Gamesa will start the delivery of its first G97-2.0 MW in the U.S. for the planned 36 MW Big Blue wind farm that Exergy Development Group is building in Blue Earth, Minn.
Gamesa expects to install 18 of the newest model of turbines beginning in September. The turbines are designed for low-wind sites.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, and the plant will be owned by Exergy’s subsidiary, Big Blue Wind Farm LLC. Northern States Power, a unit of Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL), will purchase the output.
