Coal-fired power plant sold, to be converted to natural gas

Dominion Energy Inc. (NYSE: D) completed the sale of the 745 MW Salem Harbor coal-fired power plant in Massachusetts to Footprint Power LLC, according to The Associated Press.

Footprint said it would continue with plans to close the plant by June 2014 and convert it to a natural gas-fired power plant. As part of a Feb. 6 federal court settlement, Footprint or any other new owners of the plant cannot use coal as fuel at the site.

The plant consists of three coal-fired units and one oil-fired unit and was first opened in 1951.
