B&W to design and supply coal-fired boilers in Vietnam

The Babcock & Wilcox Co. (B&W, NYSE: BWC) said that it’s subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Co. Ltd., was awarded a $300 million contract to design and manufacture two coal-fired boilers, boiler auxiliaries and two wet flue gas desulfurization units for PetroVietnam’s Thai Binh II power plant in Vietnam.

South Korean engineering and construction firm Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd. picked BWBC to engineer and manufacture the two, 600 MW subcritical downshot boilers. Zhejians Tiandi Environmental Protection Engineering Co. Ltd. will supply both wet FGD units.

Engineering is currently underway at BWBC’s facility in Beijing, and both units are expected to be operational in 2016.
