Brazilian wind energy project begins operations

Brazilian power group Desenvix’s 90 MW wind farm in northeastern Brazil started commercial operations, according to BNamericas.

The plant’s first Alstom ECO 86 turbine began operating on July 6 after receiving approval from power regulator Aneel, the article said. The facility consists of three, 30 MW wind farms – Macaubas, Novo Horizonte and Seabra. Desenvix has already contracted 35.7 MW, of which 34 MW were sold at a 2009 wind auction, the article said.
