Westinghouse partners with firm to develop new nuclear in Czech Republic

Westinghouse Electric Co. on July 9 said it has established a partnership with Czech company Vitkovice a.s., in preparation for the potential construction of Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic.

Vitkovice will join the Westinghouse/Toshiba/Metrostav team to jointly offer as a potential fabricator of structural and mechanical equipment modules, should the AP1000 reactor be selected to complete the expansion of the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant.

Pressurizers and steam generators manufactured from Vitkovice serve in the Czech nuclear plants at Temelin and Dukovany.
