El Paso Electric Co. (NYSE: EE) and SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (NYSE: WFR), inaugurated and named the 12 MW Las Cruces Centennial Solar Farm near Las Cruces International airport in New Mexico.
The plant uses more than 48,000 of MEMC’s high-performance Silvantis P280 photovoltaic (PV) modules and covers approximately 140 acres. Equity financing for the solar farm was provided by PNC Energy Capital.
SunEdison and El Paso Electric signed a power purchase agreement for the full output from the plant. SunEdison financed and built the project and will operate and maintain it for 25 years.
