The Institute for Energy Research, an industry-backed think tank, has released an energy primer detailing U.S. production and consumption of energy. “Hard Facts: An Energy Primer” covers all forms of energy, including power generation and oil and gas production.
The primer includes statistics on current U.S. production and generation trends. The findings indicate that in 2011, the U.S. produced 23 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, making it the world’s largest natural gas producer. The primer also indicates that the U.S. is currently the world’s second largest coal producer behind China, with 1.1 billion short tons of coal a year produced.
The primer can be downloaded here.
