Entergy Nuclear, a unit of Entergy (NYSE: ETR), said the Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant in Buchanan, N.Y., has been returned to service after removing the plant from service April 11 to reconnect the plant’s auxiliary transformer.
The auxiliary electrical transformer takes electricity from the plant’s main electrical generator and reduces its voltage to power various plant equipment. Unit 3 operated between March 1 and April 10, using a separate source of electrical power for use on-site while repairs to the transformer were being made.
Unit 2 is at full power and has been online for 12 continuous days since completing its 20th refueling outage on April 1.
Indian Point Energy Center is home to two operating nuclear power plants, Unit 2 and Unit 3, which generate approximately 2,000 MW of electricity.
