Dominican Republic completes 33 MW wind project

The Dominican Republic has inaugurated its first large-scale wind power project. The 33 MW facility of twin wind parks represents $100 million of investments from private local power companies Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM) and EGE-Haina.

The twin wind parks of Los Cocos and Quilvio Cabrera in Pedernales province are situated in the southern part of the .

EGE-Haina said a second phase of the wind farm project could add an additional 52 MW in 2012.
