Planned 419 MW wind farm in the works in Kansas

BP Wind Energy is planning to build an $800 million, 419 MW wind energy farm across four counties in Kansas.

The project, named the Flat Ridge 2 farm, is expected to break ground in 2011 and be completed by 2012. BP said it also signed a power purchase agreement for 314 MW of the output with Associated Electric Co-op Inc.

The farm will use 262 GE (NYSE: GE) wind turbines with a rated capacity of 1.6 MW each.
